I was pretty happy with this panel from the upcoming Apollo: The Brilliant God so I thought I'd share. If it looks familiar, its composition is based on the famous painting
Le Déjeuner sur l'herbe, by
Edouard Manet, who in turn lifted the composition from a drawing by
Raphael (not the
turtle).
Oh, the little masks! Shorthand for Thalia and Melpomene?
ReplyDeleteI thought at first they were having some sort of intellectual discussion (I kinda think of Athena, Hermes, and Apollo as the gods with the sharpest minds), but it looks like they're just enjoying the music. What a lovely panel! =)
You;'re absolutely right about Thalia and Melpomene. Each of the stories in Apollo are narrated by one of the Muses-- or in this case, two of them.
