Fan Mail of the Gods: A question about Hera

I just received this lovely piece of fan mail from Jazmin, and, since she asked, I'm sharing it with all of you. I reproduced the original coloring because, well, green is one of my two favorite colors. Unfortunately, the letter had some very nice emoticons that I am unable to reproduce here.

OK LIKE I'VE SAID THIS BEFORE UR BOOKS ARE ONE OF A KIND. I'VE READ THE BOOKS OF ZEUS AND ATHENA A HUNDRED TIMES OVER. SO LIKE MANY OTHER PPL IVE BEEN ANXIOUSLY WAITING FOR HERA (WHICH BY THE WAY COULD BE MY FAV.BOOK) TO BE RELEASED IN THE FALL. NOW I REALIZE THAT IT COULD HAVE ALREADY BEEN RELEASE BUT THIS I JUST IN CASE. U DONT HAVE TO REPLY BACK JUST POST IT POST IT ON UR BLOG. BY THE WAY DID I MENTION THAT OLYMPIANS RULE 8D.

P.S. THANX FOR TAKING TIME OUT OF UR DAY 2 READ THIS XD

Well, I never get tired of hearing that people like my books!

As it stands right now, Hera: The Goddess and her Glory does not come out until July of next year, which is, I know, a very long time off. We're trying to move it up to April, but no promises yet. The good news is that after Hera, we will be speeding up the releases. Book 4, Hades: The Wealthy One should be out soon after that, followed closely by Books 5 and 6, on Poseidon and Aphrodite.

  1. Will you be telling about Lykaon and Deukalion? any-(new profiles?)-thing?

  2. Good question. They're on my "possible list". If I have the room, they might get squeezed in somewheres. More profiles on their way soon!

  3. What parts of the Iason story will you be telling? You don't have to be explicit (I don't need to know the exact colour of the hair of the second guard to the left in Aietes' palace).

  4. His hair will be a lovely chestnut brown.

  5. Seriously, what parts of the Iason story will be in HERA? Please! I'm begging you!

Well, more like I'm holding a sledgehammer to your most-prized possession threatening to destroy it if you don't tell me, but same diff.

  6. Let me put it this way-- my plan is to have the story of Jason and the Argonauts unfold in parts throughout several books. Expect some Hera and Heracles specific elements to be featured here.

Also, my favorite possession is a sledgehammer, so it should be very interesting seeing you try to destroy that with a sledgehammer. Quite meta.

  8. Hey Anonymous,

Is that you, Ryan? I wanted to let you know that I just created a new section of the website, a forum, where it will be much easier to ask me questions and I'll be able to find them all, instead of sometimes missing them because they're scattered all over this blog. Here's the address: http://olympiansrule.blogspot.com/p/forum.html

To answer your question, Ares has many, many weapons, most if not all of them made by his brother Hephaistos, so they're all unbreakable. His primary weapon is a bloody bronze spear. His armor and chariot are both described as being golden and covered in blood. His armor in particular is often mentioned as shining like it was on fire.

  9. Let's see...
Zeus came out, Athena came out, Hera came out, Hades came out, and Poseidon came out and I'm getting that on March 13th. When will Aphrodite: Goddess of love be out. And what about the books of Apollo, Artemis, Ares, Hermes, Hephaistos, and Dionysus & Hestia?

  10. Aphrodite will be out at the very end of 2013. The other books are not on the schedule yet, but the pub order will be Ares, Apollo, Artemis, Hermes, Hephaistos and Dionysos/Hestia.
